Discover the overlooked narratives of the Southern Underground Railroad and the enduring connections between African American and Afro-Mexican communities.
Friday Evening Program: Experience the powerful voices of Gullah singers as they perform ceremonial hymns that originated in West Africa. These sacred songs, preserved across generations, have maintained cultural ties for special occasions such as weddings, funerals, and significant days like New Year’s Day. Their melodies honor traditions of resilience and unity, setting the tone for a meaningful Juneteenth celebration.
